Introducing Ginny

Monday, April 10th 2017 Themes, WordPress Themes

So, I’ve been working on this theme for much longer than expected.

A few months ago I decided that I was going to teach myself how to use/build onto the WordPress Customizer. I had Ginny designed already, and since she was a pretty simple theme, I decided that I’d use her to test out working the customizer. I was able to sit down over a weekend, thanks to tutorials by Nose Graze and Build WP Yourself, and figure out how to make everything work. After working on coding the site and then setting up the customizer I realized I had been putting off work to work on it, and that I probably shouldn’t be. So I pushed it aside and then came back to it about a week ago.

Finalizing the theme went a little slower than expected because I kept forgetting things. It’s been awhile since I’ve coded something myself, and so I got to what I thought was “finished” and realized I hadn’t included comments. At all.

It took me a few more days but she is finally ready, and I am so happy with how she turned out.

Completely Customizable

I use the word ‘completely’ a little lightly hereĀ because you can’t change the general setup of the theme, but you can literally customize the color of every single aspect of the site, through the customizer.

In addition to that in the Customizer you will also find a way to add the pretty little custom about widget, and all of the social media in the header of the site.

At the footer of the site, there is also an Instagram Widget that takes a whole two minutes to setup. (You can customize the ‘thank you for stopping by, hope to see you again soon’ message as well. Or choose not to have one – the choice is yours!)

Finally, there are two options for the header. You can either have the logo/site title display above the navigation and social media, or on the same line if you have a shorter name/compact logo.

So, I know Ginny isn’t the most beautiful thing in the world, and I know you can’t do everything possible with her, but I think she’s beautiful and awesome anyway. I’m glad that I took the time to learn something new, and I can’t wait to see what I can do with it in the future! (I mean, I already have another three themes lined up… so we know at least something is happening with this new-found knowledge ;))

If you like Ginny, you can buy her and check out her demo below!
